Who is Steve?
His investment philosophy emphasizes his conviction that every portfolio—be it institutional or individual—should reflect a documented, primary objective; in other words, it should be very intentional. For institutional investors, the governing document is often called an Investment Policy Statement. For families, it is a Financial Plan. Steve views both as synonymous to a roadmap illustrating the identified goal/objective (why?), the route (when?), and the investment vehicle(s) (how?—including considerations such as risk tolerances and investment constraints). He believes that no dollar should be invested until objectives are clarified, and every investment should echo the overall objectives.
Steve has been a Washington state resident since 1981 and married to Glenna since 1987. His personal passions include hiking, backpacking, and kayaking. He still “bags a peak” from time to time, but he suspects a third Mt. Rainier summit is unlikely. “It isn’t the ascent as much as the descent with a full pack…and these knees…that gives me pause.”
Beginning his financial services career in 1983, his credentials include Certified Financial Planner™ and Chartered Financial Consultant®. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences degree from Washington State University.
